How many daily calories is the Full Plan?
The Bistro M.D. Plan provides an average of 1,200 calories per day for the full plan (3 meals and 2 snacks per day).
There is some very important information to keep in mind while looking at this number:
The calories come from lean protein and complex carbohydrates which are essential for your body to function properly, feel full and balance its chemistry so you can lose the weight. Some programs focus on calories only, but very often they are “empty calories”: simple carbohydrates and fat which do your body a major disservice
We say an AVERAGE, and this is a very important part, as we medically prove that if you stick to a strict 1200 calorie/day diet everyday of the week, your body gets used to that making it harder and harder each week to lose weight. With the slight increase and decrease of calories on a day-to-day basis your body and metabolism do not have the chance to get used to one set point. Thus, in turn the weight comes off easier and in the end it is easier to maintain your weight.
Though, even if you are getting the same amount of food every day, we are changing calories intake every day for you, ranging between 1,100 and 1,400 per day.

So, what kind of food can you expect to get with Bistro MD? Well you have a huge variety of choices and everything is customizable. There are omelettes and waffles, french dips, sirloin burritos, and grilled salmon. There are tons of more options. I was getting hungry just looking at the menu!
How Much is Bistro MD?
Bistro MD has a few options to choose from. You can get meals delivered 5 or 7 days a week with or without snacks. The prices range from $129-$179 per week. That isn’t terribly expensive. If you go for the 7 day without snacks you are spending around $7.61 per meal. The meals are nutritious and portioned. Is it spendy? Sure it is. But it gives you consistency in your caloric intake.
Bistro MD Conclusion
I like the idea of having balanced, controlled meals delivered to my door. If I am a busy person, this is extremely convenient – but you are paying for that convenience. Could you spend less than $7 for a nutritious meal and prepare it yourself? Sure, but then you are missing out on the portion control aspect of the plan. What is Diet.com?
Diet.com is a terrific source for information about all things related to dieting. They have been around for years and have established a large community of users. Do they offer a diet that works? After surfing through the website for quite some time, I finally came across a diet plan that is recommended by Diet.com. It is called the Personality Type Diet.
What is the Personality Type Diet?
Personality Type Diet starts as a book – Dr. Kushner’s Personality Type Diet, authored by Dr. Robert Kushner, and his wife Nancy. Dr Kushner is a highly-regarded expert in the weight loss field, currently President of the Obesity Society.
Dr Kushner decided to bring Personality Type Diet to diet.com exclusively. However this program is very different to any typical online diet.

Personality and Diet – The Missing Link?
Dr Kushner believes that our personality has a major impact on our attitudes towards food and exercise. This will come as no surprise to most of us! You can quickly search for a weight loss buddy, based on your own criteria, or someone who has a similar personality. You can start or join a support group (where you live) – you can even become a weight loss “cheerleader”!

Initial membership and access to the Personality Type survey are free. But beyond this (to receive all the features) – you must subscribe. Pricing for a year long subscription is quite reasonable (about $2.08 per week). Monthly pricing is more expensive.

What is the SouthBeach Diet?
The South Beach Diet is truly a food lover’s diet. It’s about living well and loving what you eat. But it’s also practical, flexible, easy, and it works.
Three Phases of the South Beach Diet
- Phase 1 lasts two weeks and is designed to eliminate cravings and kick-start weight loss.
- Phase 2 is intended to produce long-term, steady weight loss. You’ll stay in Phase 2 until you reach a healthy weight.

South Beach Diet Phase 1
Phase 1, the shortest Phase, lasts for just two weeks and is designed to eliminate cravings for sugar and refined starches – and to jump-start your weight loss. The purpose of Phase 1 is to stabilize blood sugar (which minimizes cravings), making it ideal for people who are prediabetic or diabetic, as well as for those who need to lose a lot of weight.
The focus of this two-week period is on eating plenty of nutrient-dense, fiber-rich (and guaranteed delicious!) foods that satisfy your appetite. Your meals include lean protein, such as fish and other seafood; skinless white-meat poultry, and lean cuts of beef (vegetarians can enjoy meat substitutes, tofu, and beans); high-fiber veggies; reduced-fat cheeses; eggs; low-fat dairy; and healthy, unsaturated fats, such as those found in avocados, nuts and seeds, and extra-virgin olive and canola oils.
When I did the South Beach Diet, this 2 week period was difficult. My body, it seemed, went into shock. Mainly because I was used to eating junk food that my body probably became dependant on it. In this two week period I was able to lose 5 pounds. Not too bad. I wasn’t overweight by any means. By the end of the two weeks I was really looking forward to Phase 2.
South Beach Diet Phase 2
Phase 2 is the long-term weight-loss Phase of the plan. It’s also a good place to start for those people who have 10 pounds or less to lose, who don’t have problems with cravings, who don’t have excess belly fat, or who simply want to improve their health.
In Phase 2, you’ll eat everything in Phase 1 and start to reintroduce good carbs, such as whole-grain bread, brown rice, whole-wheat pasta, fruits, and even more veggies, like sweet potatoes, pumpkin, and peas back into your diet.
South Beach Diet Phase 3
Phase 3 is all about making smart food choices that fit the way you live, and it begins once you reach your healthy weight. In Phase 3, you’ll continue to follow the principles you learned in Phases 1 and 2, but because it’s the lifelong stage of the plan, it includes almost every kind of food and it allows for additional occasional indulgences. It is the key to maintaining a healthy weight for life.

The Medifast diet plan takes a very low-calorie, no-brainer approach to weight loss. There’s no counting calories, fat grams, or carbs; you just eat or drink six times a day.
Medifast has been around for over 27 years. It started off by offering meal replacement programs available only through doctors. Today the Medifast diet is now widely available and includes 70 meal-replacement options, including the popular shakes.

Medifast Conclusion
Medifast is older than I am. It is recommended by over 20,000 doctors. Medifast takes the guessing out of planning your meals and puts a stop to calorie counting. It doesn’t get much easier than the Medifast program, which is probably why it has been around so long. It can be a good plan for someone who needs to lose a substantial amount of weight, and ideally, should be done under a doctor’s supervision.
Be prepared for a serious adjustment to very little to eat and drink (other than no-calorie beverages). But if you’re serious about losing weight and prepared to change your eating and exercise habits after the weight loss phase, this could be the plan for you.
Nutrisystem
What is Nutrisystem?
Founded in 1972, NutriSystem is a leading provider of weight management products and services. The Company offers a systematic weight loss program based on portion-controlled prepared meals. The program has no membership fees and provides free on-line and telephone counseling.
Now, you have probably seen their commercials on TV, endorsed by popular celebrities like Dan Marino, Angie Everhart, Larry the Cable Guy and Marie Osmond. These guys lost some serious weight. Larry the Cable Guy lost 50 Pounds!

I like this program because it is a complete package. There are some diets that will send food to your home, there are some that provide you with access to online dieting tools. But Nutrisystem is the only one that offers both. The food is delicious. There is no calorie counting. The meals are there. There is no guessing. This one is a no-brainer.
