<p>Well, do not despair fellow dieters.  There are ways to battle (and conquer) the bulge, but it involves treating your body with love and respect; not like a beat-up car on a roller coaster ride.  Below are six tips for maximizing your fat burning potential and making your body lean and happy:</p>

<li><strong>Repeat after me-DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF. </strong> The single most important thing you can do for your body to fuel it and keep it running on all six cylinders, is FEED IT.  Let’s look at the facts-your body needs fuel to keep your heart pumping, your blood flowing and all systems running smoothly.  If you starve it, you’re not only going to be cranky and feel like lying in a state of perpetual rest, you’re going to STORE any carbohydrates and sugar you consume as FAT.   Your body is hell bent and determined to stay alive.  If it thinks for two seconds you’re living in a famine situation, guess what?  FAT CITY.</li>
<li>Now we’ve determined you should eat, try this fat-busting tip. <strong> Do not combine carbohydrates and fats in the same meal. </strong> “But why?” I hear you wail.  Well, in the simplest terms possible, your body will use any carbs eaten for energy and will store fat for later.  Fat storage requires insulin, and insulin is only released if you have eaten a carbohydrate.  Bottom line, insulin tells your body to create more fat.  So in essence you are eating a fat with more fat.  (If you’re confused as to what fat and carbohydrates are, use this formula.  Fats have faces; bacon=pig, butter=pig, cow=egg.  Carbohydrates come from the trees or ground-fruits, whole grains, potatoes, etc.)  Try having your carbs for your breakfast (oatmeal-no sugar!) and fats for lunch and dinner (salmon steak with veggies and a salad for lunch and any meat with veggies for dinner.)</li>
<li> <strong>NO SUGAR!  I mean it! </strong>This article is about SCORCHING FAT.  You want to do that, you stay away from anything that will raise your insulin levels to store more of the stuff.  No sugar means stay away from artificial sweeteners too (which will confuse your body and give you cravings for more ‘white death.’)  If you must have something a little sweet, eat fruit-but keep it to a minimum.</li>
<li><strong>Work out on an empty stomach, and first thing in the morning if possible. </strong> (This is preferably after a carb-free evening the night before.)  The body will burn any glucose (sugar) in the bloodstream first before it goes anywhere near your fat storage.  Make your fat available, quit putting sugar in the way.</li>
<li><strong>Drink lots and lots of water. </strong> Keep away from Crystal Light, Diet Soda and any caffeinated drinks.  If you need a cup of coffee drink decaf (no sugar!)  Bored with water?  Try adding mint leaves or lemons to it.  Persevere.  You want to scorch fat.  Quit complaining and follow my advice.</li>
<li><strong>Mix your strength training and cardio for maximum fat burning results.</strong> This is coming from a person who ran 10 miles a day and still had annoying fat stored around her middle and other places.   A miraculous change to your workout intensity and physique will happen when you incorporate <em>circuit training</em> into your week.  Weighted squats and lunges that work out your upper and lower body at the same time not only cut your workout time in half, but burn twice the calories.  It’s intense!   If you don’t have time for the gym, and money for a personal trainer, workout videos are fantastic.  Jackie Warner’s ‘Extreme Time Saver Training’ is a must-have for anyone serious about busting out of their fat suit.</li>

<p>Now I know some of this advice seems hard to bear.  Well, burning fat is not for wimps, and you can’t expect the Great White Lard to relinquish its hold from you overnight.   Change the way you eat (because obviously what you’ve been doing doesn’t work or you wouldn’t be googling this article), and that means saying sayonara to sugar and the other nasty things you’ve been ramming down your throat.  Give it a week.  Your cravings will be gone, and you’ll feel much better.  Oh, and one more word of advice-SLEEP.  Think of your body as the Starship Enterprise.  You’ve spent a hard day patrolling the galaxy, and now you’re in docking port getting refueled and calibrated.  In the morning you’ll be all shiny and new and ready to ‘give it all she’s got.’  (And fully awake and alert you’re far less likely to roll into the 7 Eleven for an early morning coffee and donut run.)</p>

<p>The Shake Weight uses a technology called Dynamic Inertia. Dynamic Inertia claims that shaking is more effective than lifting weights. (It’s important to note that Dynamic Inertia doesn’t seem to really exist past the Shake Weight website, so Dynamic Inertia is something that is made up to support their product. ) Dynamic Inertia refers to shaking the oversized plastic dumbbell with short, rapid movements that force your muscles to tighten. You hold the Shake Weight with either one or two hands engaging the biceps, chest or triceps. Many consumers agreed that they definitely felt something in their arms as they shook the weight, but it didn’t necessarily feel like a workout. What makes us crave sugar, and can we do anything to prevent these cravings?</p>
<p>When we are born, sweet tastes are what humans prefer. Carbohydrates (sweets) stimulate the release of a brain chemical called serotonin. This is a “feel-good” chemical that is affected by our diet. When we eat foods high in sugar we feel better because our brains release more serotonin. The taste of sugar also releases endorphins that calm and relax us.</p>
<p>Plain and simple sweets taste good. It’s important to indulge once and awhile in a sugary food, but everyday or even more than once a day is not a great thing for your body. Once you understand why you crave sugar, it’s easier not to reach for the candy bar, the doughnut or anything else that is sugar loaded.</p>
<h2>Adrenal Fatigue</h2>
<p>When you are stressed, exhausted and sleep deprived, sugary foods are naturally wanted. The adrenal glands in our body secrete chemicals that provide us with energy. When your body is tired this can disrupt the adrenal glands from working properly. When we reach for those sugary foods in moments of tiredness, this can boost our energy level momentary, but often we will crash once again. This leads to a never ending cycle of eating more and more sugar to help you feel less tired, which in reality will never really help you when you are tired. It’s important to get adequate rest and take some time to relax and enjoy yourself. Aim to get at least 7 hours of sleep nightly, but more is better.</p>
<h2>Lack of Physical Activity</h2>
<p>When you are not exercising and live a sedentary lifestyle this can cause you to feel sluggish and blah. Once again you may be reaching for those sugary foods in order to boost your energy level which won’t really work and just cause you in the end to feel more tired. Physical exercise helps to stabilize blood sugar levels and often leads you to crave more healthy food items compared to foods high in sugar and fat.  Physical activity may not just help your body, but your mind, and those sugary cravings will probably go away with time.</p>
<h2>Dehydration</h2>
<p>Our body needs water to function properly so it’s very important to stay hydrated. Hydration not only helps your body but can help with appetite control which may lead you to not crave sugary foods. Reach for a cup of water when you want something sugar loaded, it may not solve the craving but it’s at least worth trying.</p>

<p>It’s important to take care of our body. Getting adequate sleep, being active and drinking of plenty of water will help you eat less sugar and not crave sugary food items all of the time. The less sugar you eat the less you crave and although the first couple of days or even weeks will be hard without eating as much sugar, it’s important to remember that it’s worth it and it will help you get to a new and improved you (without sugar).</p>
